Background

Act One of 2019 was a unanimous decision by Vermont legislatures to enact ethnic and social equity learning standards for the state of Vermont. A primary focus for the ensuing working group was to revise Vermont’s top educational document, the Educational Quality Standards (EQS). Officially adopted on April 17th, 2024, the revised EQS are set to go into action this school year (2025-26). The implications are comprehensive across the educational setting and include actionable items for school boards, superintendents, teachers, and school leadership. 

Target Audience: School Leaders (District and Teacher Leaders Welcome) 

This Cohort Goal's

This cohort’s goal is to provide time and collaboration for the following: 

• Scaffolded and facilitated discussion to more closely examine the Revised EQS by section. 
• Audit Readiness and Next Steps for current goals in implementation
• Facilitated work time to begin building artifacts, plans, and materials for implementation at your local level, such as professional learning schedules and materials, audit tools, and presentation/communication materials for stakeholders. 
• Collaboration. Participants must be willing to share your work and build from an assets-based framework on what is already underway around the state.
