Creating a Thriving School Ecosystem for Staff and Students: Building Psychological Safety

Thursday, September 12, 2024 3:30 PM - Thursday, April 10, 2025 3:30 PM (EDT)

Description

School leaders oversee the education, safety and well being of students, staff and families in their communities. Creating a work and learning environment where everyone can thrive does not happen by accident. It happens through intention and application of leadership skills that is backed by brain science. Simon Sinek, author and researcher asked, "Did you know we spend over 90,000 hours at work in a lifetime? That's a significant amount of our lives, and we believe that building meaningful connections in the workplace is more than just a luxury—it's a must for the well-being and success of our staff AND our students!

The VPA is offering this seven session workshop series led by Dr. Joelle van Lent, Clinical Psychologist, along with Veteran Principal, and VPA Assistant Executive Director, Erica McLaughlin. Participants will examine brain science and leadership lessons that help to cultivate an optimal setting for staff and students to do their best. Participants will learn new content together, synthesize this information together and share ideas for application.
